Accounting Finance Supervisor

Description:

The Accounting Finance Supervisor supervises the general accounting functions and accounting staff for Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine, a for profit entity that also manages a not for profit Foundation.  This position ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures and is responsible for the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger and all related system processes.  Prepares and supports the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow and other financial reports. Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations including cash, AR, AP and other various asset and liability accounts.  The Accounting Finance Supervisor facilitates the compilation of routine financial forecasts and calculation of physician compensation and oversees the payroll and accounts payable process and assists in the management of cash balances.  This position serves as a liaison between billing and operations by gaining a complete understanding of the revenue cycle process while assisting the Director of Finance with special projects and other standard financial reporting and analysis functions.

Duties: 
  • Prepares and distributes financial statements, statistical reports, tax returns, and physician/division reporting
  • Oversee payroll and accounts payable process and staff
  • Serve as a liaison between billing and operations
  • Participate in purchasing, bid processing and contractual arrangements/negotiations
  • Oversee internal controls
  • Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and cash management activities

Qualifications:

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Working knowledge of the health care industry with emphasis on physician practices, managed care, medical billing, and hospitals
  • Demonstrated technical skills in quantitative analysis and finance
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Access skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a centralized services environment
  • Aptitude for delivering exceptional customer service

Education and Experience Required

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience required
  • Health care experience preferred
  • Experience working with accounting systems and databases
  • One to two years supervisory experience preferred
  • Three to five years work experience in accounting/finance
